The devastated widow of slain police Officer Wenjian Liu spoke Monday about her husband’s choice to lead a life of service as a shaken city continued to mourn him and Officer Rafael Ramos — two heroes executed by a madman.

“His dreams were of providing for his current and growing family,” Pei Xia Chen said tearfully of the man she had just married in September.

“He was an asset to the police department, using his Chinese language skills whenever and wherever it was needed,” she said in a statement.

The spot in Brooklyn where the officers fell continued to attract elected officials, fellow cops and ordinary New Yorkers who came to show their respect.

The daughter of Eric Garner, killed in an NYPD chokehold, laid a wreath at the site — and said she was touched by the heart-wrenching message Ramos’ son posted online after his father’s murder.

“It hit my heart,” Emerald Snipes, 22, said as she visited the tragic spot at Tompkins and Myrtle Aves. in Bedford-Stuyvesant.

“Today I had to say bye to my dad,” 13-year-old Jaden Ramos wrote on Facebook the night his father was killed. “It’s horrible that someone gets shot dead just for being a police officer. ... I will always love you and never forget you.”

Snipes said she could relate. "I know how it feels in this season to not have your father around," she said.

Ramos, 40, a father-of-two who joined the force in 2012, was a devoted church member who was about to become a chaplain.

Well wishers, including Mayor de Blasio, streamed to his relatives’ residence in Cypress Hill, Brooklyn.

In a heartfelt gesture, firefighters from Ladder 175 invited Jaden and other children who were in the home to play with the siren and horn of their truck.

The mayor and Gov. Cuomo also visited Liu’s relatives. The Governor said the family is distraught by the unspeakable loss and concerned about the future.

“From the practical side, how are they gonna pay for the mortgage?” Cuomo said. “His mother is having some medical treatment, her son is paying for it — who is gonna pay that now?”

The Justice Department was reaching out to the Ramos and Liu families to help them receive federal benefits available to survivors of fallen officers, officials said.

Attorney General Eric Holder instructed his department "to proactively reach out to the families" and expedite the assistance process, they added.

Liu, 32, arrived to the U.S. from Caton, China, in 1994 at age 12. He graduated from Lafayette High School and studied accounting in college, but then eschewed a traditional career path and started serving his community, first as an auxiliary cop and, after graduating from the police academy in 2007, as an officer.

The two cops were were both shot in the head Saturday by Ismaaiyl Brinsley, who ambushed them, unprovoked, as they sat in a patrol car.

Before killing the cops, the gunman, who later blew his brains out, wrote an Instagram post that made a reference to Garner and to Michael Brown of Ferguson, Mo. — unarmed black men whose deaths at the hands of cops sparked a national protest movement.

“I’m putting wings on pigs today. They take 1 of ours ... let’s take 2 of theirs,” the 28-year-old killer posted on his way to the city with the hashtags ShootThePolice, RIPErivGardner, misspelling the Staten Island man’s name, and RIPMikeBrown.

Garner, a father of six, was wrestled to the ground and later died when cops tried to arrest him for selling untaxed cigarettes in July.

“My father wasn't a violent man,” said Snipes, his youngest daughter. “He was peaceful.”

Ramos’ funeral is scheduled for Saturday after a viewing Friday at Christ Tabernacle Church in Glendale, Queens, where the officer was a beloved member for 14 years.

Services for Liu have yet to be announced, pending the arrival of relatives from China, officials said.
