Army Couple Forced to Change Wedding Location for President Obama's Golf ... - NBCNews.com

A military couple had to change their wedding venue at the request of the White House, officials said Monday.

Natalie Heimel and her now-husband, Edward Mallue Jr., both Army captains, had planned to hold their wedding ceremony on the 16th green of the Marine Base Hawaii golf course Saturday.

But there was only one problem — President Barack Obama, who is vacationing on the island, planned to golf the course at the same time.

Naile Brennan, the manager of the couple's catering company, had to call the bride-to-be and break the news, but Brennan said the alternative location had "an even nicer view."

An administration official told NBC News that White House staff didn't know of the conflict until Bloomberg News, which first reported the story Monday morning, called for a comment.

Along with the alleged nicer view, the couple also received a congratulatory call from Obama, who apologized, the White House official said.

Obama's golf outing included White House staffers Mike Brush and Joe Paulsen and friend Bobby Titcomb. Brush and Paulsen are responsible for planning and coordinating the president's travel itinerary.
