The third missionary doctor who was diagnosed yesterdaty with Ebola in Liberia is Dr. Rick Sacra from Boston. In a press conference held today for Nancy Writebol, one of three patients that contracted the Ebola virus in Liberia, officials with the missionary organization SIM USA made this announcement. Dr. Sacra and his wife, Debbie, live in the Boston area, according to SIM officials. Dr. Sacra is a physician who recently volunteered to go with SIM to Liberia and was working in the obstetrics unit when officials believe he contracted the virus.
The symptoms for Dr. Sacra began on Friday evening, when he developed a temperature, according to SIM officials. On Monday, September 1, staff ran the Ebola test on Dr. Sacra. When that test came back positive on Monday, Dr. Sacra moved himself to the Ebola unit.
