Military police have detained one person at Fort Sam Houston after investigating a suspicious vehicle that sparked a nearly four-hour lockdown.

Traffic to the Texas base was blocked when the lockdown - which has now been lifted - started at 5:30 p.m. to investigate a suspicious driver, according to KSAT-TV.

Army officials have not identified the lone person in custody nor explained why the driver was suspicious.

Base officials also denied reports of an active shooter on the base and there was “nothing to indicate there ever was,” Joint-Base San Antonio spokesman Todd White told the San Antonio Express-News.

Drivers in line to enter Fort Sam reportedly saw a bomb squad vehicle, ambulance and a military police vehicle enter the base.

Bexar County Sheriff’s Office has no deputies responding to the base, but is aware of the lockdown.

Calls by the Daily News to the U.S. Army facility in San Antonio have not been returned.

A shooting at Fort Sam in 2013 led to a guilty plea by Alvin Leon for firing seven shots at his partner at the base's Medical Training Facility. She survived the shooting.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
