Felipe Dana/AP Even in defeat, Tim Howard is the man of the match in Tuesday’s game between the U.S. and Belgium in the Round of 16 at the World Cup.

Tim Howard's World Cup is the over, but the Internet isn't ready to let him go just yet.

The Amercian goaltender, who broke a World Cup record with 16 saves while singlehandedly keeping the U.S. in it against a high-powered Belgium side Tuesday, is a conversation topic Wednesday morning..

Howard's inspired preformance - "We played our hearts out," the New Jersey native said after the bitter 2-1 defeat in extra time - has inspired countless Internet memes and #ThingsTimHowardCouldSave was trending throughout Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning. There's even a petition on WhiteHouse.gov to change the name of Washington National Airport to Tim Howard National Airport and the Secretary of Defense's Wikipedia page was edited to show Howard's image instead of Chuck Hagel.

From the Titanic, to Bambi to Janet Jackson's bare breast at the Super Bowl, fans feel Howard could've been the difference-maker, as he was for the U.S. Tuesday.
