'The Fault In Our Stars' wins large at MTV Film Awards - The Leader

LOS ANGELES — Vin Diesel sang, Channing Tatum danced and Zac Efron showed off his toned abs but once again as the ideal shirtless winner for the second year in a row at Sunday&#8217s MTV Movie Awards.

&#8220This is absolutely not the Oscars,&#8221 mentioned &#822022 Jump Street&#8221 star Jillian Bell as she arrived for MTV&#8217s 24th annual irreverent treatment on Hollywood award shows.

In addition to such cheeky, fan-voted honors as best kiss and best shirtless performance, the awards at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles also served as an unofficial promotional platform for the upcoming blockbuster season.

Pretty much at odds with the raunchy spirit of the show, the huge winner of the evening was the teen tearjerker &#8220The Fault in Our Stars,&#8221 which got the Golden Popcorn statuette for most effective movie of the year as properly as a number of wins for star Shailene Woodley.

Other winners integrated Bradley Cooper, Channing Tatum and Jennifer Lopez, as effectively as Jennifer Lawrence and Meryl Streep, who were not in attendance.

But it was difficult to be uniformly gracious when categories include things like other wacky awards like ideal villain (Streep for &#8220Into the Woods&#8221), and finest WTF moment (Rose Byrne and Seth Rogen for &#8220Neighbors&#8221).

Kevin Hart, who was the target of many size-associated jokes all through the night, brought his kids on stage to accept the comedic genius award. &#8220I do it all for them,&#8221 he stated. &#8220I&#8217m attempting to leave a legacy behind.&#8221

In one of the most energetic moments of the show, Robert Downey Jr. brought his fellow Avengers to their knees even though accepting the Generation Award.

&#8220I partied way too much. I&#8217ve squandered, resisted, repented,&#8221 he stated, imploring the audience to &#8220dream major, function challenging, retain your nose clean.&#8221

But the genuine focus was on what&#8217s coming up at the multiplex this summer. The Film Awards&#8217 2013, host Rebel Wilson, and her &#8220Pitch Great&#8221 co-stars introduced a new clip from their upcoming sequel.

The group behind &#8220Paper Towns,&#8221 an adaptation of John Green&#8217s novel, debuted a new clip as nicely.

Of course, there was also an agenda behind Downey&#8217s accolade: the promotion of &#8220Ultron.&#8221 The &#8220Iron Man&#8221 star introduced a new clip from the Marvel blockbuster, which bows May 1.

Even host Schumer had a film to promote: &#8220Trainwreck,&#8221 a connection comedy with Bill Hader from director Judd Apatow that Schumer wrote and stars in.

&#8220Go see my movie &#8216Trainwreck,&#8217 I think that&#8217s the most significant lesson we&#8217ve all discovered right here tonight,&#8221 stated Schumer as she closed the show.
