WASHINGTON — As former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton gets ready to officially announce her candidacy for president, the Sunday talk shows will focus on the 2016 race for the White House.

Clinton, who also served as a U.S. senator from New York, is expected to formally enter the race Sunday, ending more than two years of speculation about whether she would run again. Clinton lost the Democratic nomination to Barack Obama in 2008, but her hopes to become president were buoyed when Obama appointed her to be his chief diplomat.

The former first lady is the best-known candidate and only major Democrat to enter the race so far. She will face a crowded field of GOP hopefuls, who already include Sens. Ted Cruz of Texas and Rand Paul of Kentucky. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., is set to announce his candidacy on Monday in Miami. Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush is also expected to run.

Clinton hopes to become the nation's first female president. Although she is already considered the Democratic frontrunner, she may not go unchallenged. Former Rhode Island Gov. Lincoln Chafee, a onetime Republican-turned-Democrat, announced Thursday that he was forming a presidential exploratory committee. Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., also is considering a bid for the White House as either a Democrat or a third party candidate. Vice President Joe Biden is thinking about running again. And former Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley said he will decide by late May whether to seek the Democratic nomination.

Here's a look at the Sunday lineup:

• CBS' Face the Nation: Paul will discuss his campaign for the Republican presidential nomination with host Bob Schieffer. Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus will talk about the increasingly crowded GOP field for president. A panel of political experts, including Susan Page of USA TODAY, will talk about Clinton's entry into the race as the leading Democratic contender.

On the international front, Secretary of State John Kerry will discuss the U.S.-Iran nuclear deal and the opening of U.S. relations with Cuba. Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., will talk about her bipartisan bill to end the U.S. trade embargo against Cuba.

• NBC's Meet the Press: New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio will talk about Clinton's campaign for the presidency. He was Clinton's campaign manager during her successful run for the Senate in 2000. Host Chuck Todd also will talk to Paul about his run for the Republican presidential nomination. Kerry will talk about the normalization of relations with Cuba.

• ABC's This Week: The show will cover the latest developments as Clinton enters the race for president. Likely Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee, the former governor of Arkansas, will discuss the 2016 contest. Kerry will talk about the debate over the preliminary U.S.-Iran nuclear deal. Former First Lady Laura Bush will talk about her award for her contributions to women's rights around the world.

Fox News Sunday: Sen. Robert Menendez, D-N.J., will talk about Senate legislation that would give Congress 60 days to review any final nuclear deal with Iran. President Obama has promised to veto the bill if it's passed because he believes it would kill the agreement. Menendez, who is Cuban-American, also will talk about efforts by the Obama administration to normalize relations with Cuba. Menendez has opposed Obama on both the Iran deal and the normalization of relations with Cuba.

2012 Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney will discuss Clinton's entry into the 2016 race and the growing list of GOP candidates for the White House.

CNN's State of the Union: Paul will talk about his candidacy for the Republican presidential nomination with host Dana Bash.
