It looks like The Big Bang Theory is getting its money's worth.
Fresh off a lucrative new deal, star Jim Parsons won his fourth award for lead actor in a comedy at Monday night's Emmys.
"There's no accounting for taste, and due to good fortune I stand up here tonight," Parsons said. He also paid tribute to his late father, who encouraged him to be an actor. "In a career that hinges on confidence so much of the time, I thank him."
Julia Louis-Dreyfus won her third consecutive award for lead actress in a comedy. After making out with Breaking Bad's Bryan Cranston, she thanked her show's cable home HBO: "Honestly, I've worked in a lot of places in this town, and it's my favorite place I've ever worked."
For her American Horror Story: Coven role, Kathy Bates took home the trophy for supporting actress in a miniseries. She said she didn't think she was going to win because she saw some of the award handlers in the green room. "They caught my eye and they both tilted their heads in that social-worker 'I'm sorry' way."
Sherlock won three Emmys: lead actor in a miniseries for Benedict Cumberbatch, supporting actor for Martin Freeman and a writing award that went to Steven Moffat.
Mom star Allison Janney and Modern Family star Ty Burrell garnered the first honors of the evening in the comedy supporting-actor categories.
"I play a mom on Mom and a grandmother, and as of last season a great-grandmother. This season I can only hope for incontinent," Janney said while accepting the honor for supporting actress in a comedy.
Burrell had words ready for his second win in the supporting-actor category, but instead read a speech done by his TV kids. Some gems: "I should probably thank my wife because she's super pretty" and about his kids, whom he sometimes brings to the set. "They're cute, but they're just not 'I can support my whole family' cute."
The Amazing Race won its 10th Emmy for best reality series, Colin Bucksey took the award for directing in a movie or miniseries for Fargo, Louis C.K. garnered the Emmy for comedy writing for his show Louis, and Gail Mancuso of Modern Family got her second consecutive win for best directing for a comedy.
A win by Modern Family for best comedy would tie Frasier for most wins and consecutive wins, but the ABC sitcom faces competition from the Netflix critical darling Orange is the New Black, The Big Bang Theory, Louie and newcomer Silicon Valley.

Meanwhile in the category for best drama, Breaking Bad will try and make it two in a row. The show, which aired its finale on AMC last fall, is up against HBO favorite True Detective, plus Downton Abbey, Game of Thrones, House of Cards and Mad Men.
Best actor in a drama series could come down to Breaking Bad's Bryan Cranston vs. True Detective's Matthew McConaughey, who won an Oscar for best actor earlier this year for Dallas Buyers Club. The rest of the field includes last year's winner Jeff Daniels (The Newsroom), McConaughey's co-star Woody Harrelson, Jon Hamm (Mad Men) and Kevin Spacey (House of Cards).
Claire Danes of Homeland was the 2013 winner for best actress in a drama, and she returns in a category with Julianna Margulies (The Good Wife), Lizzy Caplan (Masters of Sex), Michelle Dockery (Downton Abbey), Kerry Washington (Scandal) and Robin Wright (House of Cards).
It's a big crowd vying for supporting actor in a drama, including Josh Charles for his swan song on The Good Wife and Aaron Paul of Breaking Bad going for his third Emmy win. Also in the mix: Jim Carter (Downton Abbey), Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones), Mandy Patinkin (Homeland) and Jon Voight (Ray Donovan).
Christine Baranski (The Good Wife), Anna Gunn (Breaking Bad), Maggie Smith (Downton Abbey), Joanne Froggatt (Downton Abbey), Lena Headey (Game of Thrones) and Christina Hendricks (Mad Men) are all up for supporting actress in a drama.
