Woman 'devastated' to be named by Santa Barbara shooter Elliot Rodger as ... - New York Daily News

The “pretty blonde girl” blamed by Santa Barbara murderer Elliot Rodger for his violent misogyny is “devastated” and living in fear, her father said Monday.

“The whole thing is so creepy,” the protective dad shuddered, saying he fears a “copycat” killer will now target his daughter. “It’s scary. Even though he’s gone.”

Rodger, 22, pinpointed his Woodland Hills, Calif., middle school crush as the person who triggered the rage that ultimately drove him to murder six people and wound 13 others in a horrifying rampage Friday night.

The Daily News is withholding the young woman’s name.

“She must have thought I was an ultimate loser,” Rodger wrote in the 137-page manifesto he emailed to his parents and two dozen others before embarking on the death spree.

“I hated her so much, and I will never forget her,” the virgin college student recounted. “I started to hate all girls because of this. I saw them as mean, cruel and heartless creatures that took pleasure from my suffering.”

The woman’s father said it was Saturday morning when his 20-year-old daughter realized Rodger had made her part of his sick story.

“She’s devastated by this,” the dad said in a phone interview. “She doesn’t even remember this guy. . . . She’s always been the most delicate kid you’d ever want to meet. For him to call her a bully, this kid was really disillusioned.

“She was 10 years old,” the dad added. “He was two years older than her. He was in my son’s class. She was in the seventh grade and he was in eighth grade. . . . Can you imagine a 10-year-old kid bullying a 12-year-old? This little, petite girl bullying him?”

In his screed, Rodger called his crush an “evil bitch” who “teased and ridiculed” him and “wounded me deeply.”

“A group of popular seventh grade girls started teasing me, which hurt a lot,” he wrote.

“One of these girls was . . . a pretty blonde girl.”

Years later, despite red flags about his mental health and a visit from sheriff’s deputies on April 30, the college student went on to gun down two sorority sisters and kill four other people before apparently shooting himself in the head.

“The world that I grew up thinking was bright and blissful was all over,” Rodger wrote of his treatment by the girl.

“I was living in a depraved world, and I didn’t want to accept it. I didn’t want to give any thought to it. That is why I immersed myself entirely into my online games like World of Warcraft. I felt safe there.”

The woman’s father said she’s struggling to deal with her name surfacing in Rodger’s manifesto.

“It really affected her,” he said. “It just baffles me. Everybody loves this girl. Everybody she comes into contact with just raves about her. It was just an illusion this kid built in his own mind, I guess because he couldn’t have her.

“She hadn’t seen him since seventh grade,” the dad continued. “She just knew he was an odd type of person at the time. I guess he had this secret crush on her that no one knew about.”

The distraught dad said his heart goes out to the families of the people Rodger killed.

“I lost a child at the age of 2,” the father said. “I know how hard it was for me. You never get over it. I can’t imagine what they’re going through right now. I can’t imagine what Elliot’s parents are going through right now.”

Other parents were suffering, too.

Jinshuang Liu wept Monday as she told reporters about her 20-year-old son, Weihan Wang, whom Rodger stabbed to death in his apartment along with two other roommates.

“I wish I could go in exchange of my son’s life,” the heartbroken mother told NBC Bay Area.

Wang, who had grown up in Fremont, Calif., and who was studying computer engineering at the University of California at Santa Barbara, had told his parents he wanted to move out of the Isla Vista, Calif., apartment because Rodger played his music too loud in the middle of the night and wasn’t social, the TV station reported.

“He was the joy of the family,” Liu said, hugging her tearful husband in the doorway of their home.

The other roommates who fell victim to Rodger’s insane spree were 19-year-old George Chen and 20-year-old Cheng Yuan Hong, both from San Jose, Calif.

After leaving the apartment, Rodger fatally shot Katie Cooper, 22, and Veronika Weiss, 19, outside their sorority house. Then he shot up a deli, killing 20-year-old Christopher Michael-Martinez.
