CIENFUEGOS, Cuba — Officials say nine French tourists are in critical condition after their bus collided with a truck during a trip through central Cuba.
Eight of the 41 tourists on board had surgery for facial and cranial injuries and broken bones, while nine were in “very serious condition, with their lives in danger,” Moises Santos, assistant director of the Gustavo Aldereguia University Hospital in Cienfuegos Province, told the Prensa Latina news agency. Two tourists had limbs amputated.
The accident occurred Monday afternoon as the tourist bus traveled from Santa Clara to Varadero beach resort.
