4th of July Shootings Killed 11 people in Chicago - Upstart Magazine

On the 4th of July shootings across Chicago, 60 people got wounded and 11 lost their lives, reported by CBS Chicago. In six of the shootings, police were involved.

Martin Maloney spokesman of police said, “While to date we have had the fewest murders since 1963, one victim is too many and there is clearly much more work to be done.”


According to the station, in the city’s Morgan Park neighborhood, an unidentified woman 44 years old was found dead in parking lot around 12:30 a.m. at barbecue.

Also according to the station, two teenagers lost their lives by the shooting of police on the holiday week.

16 years old Warren Robinson was killed in car chase by officers on Saturday evening. Police said he had gun with him but according to the Georgiana Utendahl, boy’s mother, he didn’t possess any gun on time of shooting. Witnesses said Warren’s hand was in air whole time but police denied this claim.


14-year-old Pedro Rios was killed on Friday for the crime of pointing revolver towards the officer.


No one was taken in custody in the case of shootings by officials till the early Monday morning.
